Life should feel like this!

Fresh, young and full of possibilities!

My mother lives in Fort White, Florida on a dirt road away from the chaos of the city. This remote acreage harbors a world of wildlife. Mom loves birds as much as I. She has planted many trees on her land and provides bird habitat among them. She leaves most of the environment in its natural state. This is conducive to an enjoyable stroll among nature.

This particular morning I was up and ready before the light. I slipped out of the house quietly so as not to wake mom. Soon I would be sitting in the midst of beautiful sounds of the birds as the day began to unfold. It was sixty-five degrees and promised to develop into a scorcher.

A bit of fog had moved in overnight but not enough to obstruct the photos. I made my way to the trees and listened for bird calls. I heard the call of turkeys in the pines across the way. Their morning call was loud as it echoed through the depth of the forest. When they stopped the crows took up the melody.

It was nice to be away from computers, emails and irritating noise.

Northern Cardinals fluttered around me, in and out of the trees. I counted eight in all.

Around eight o’clock I headed back to the house. I knew mom was probably up by now slipping around quietly so as not to wake me. As I approach the house she spotted me. I stop for one more shot of Mother Nature before entering the house filled with the smell of fresh coffee and breakfast. Most important was the time I spent with mom.
