One of the most amazing things I have yet to witness in the birding world. Today I was inside Largo Nature Preserve observing three young Osprey's that have recently left their nest to venture out looking for their own food. Mom and dad were close by dropping in from time to time trying to get them to spread their wings and go for it.
I really enjoyed watching these birds and listening to them communicate with each other. I love their call.
I walked a little further in the park following the sounds of a nearby hawk call that got my attention. I spotted two of them sitting together on top of a bat box mounted to a pole.
As I was focusing in on them with my lens, from out of nowhere comes one of the Osprey's dive bombing the both of them!
I was only able to get one shot at him plowing into the one Hawk as the other raised up in pure surprise.
Never have I seen anything like this before and I am still not certain why this happen. As you can see the one Hawk falling backwards from the chest plunge the mighty Osprey inflicted on him. He managed to gain his balance and flew right over my head. So close I could feel the swish as he went over.
Nature...don't you just love it!
