Weeping Over Lost Possibilities
Posted by Admin  Posted on: 14-Jul-09 16:11

It is sites such as this that I will truly miss if Largo Nature Preserve Park is shut down due to budget cuts in our area. I have spent the last three years photographing each new family of Osprey, as they built their nest and raised their young.

Some of my most fascinating shots have come from this park and it saddens me greatly to think about the possibilities of not being able to go there and shoot. I have never once been disappointed from a shoot from within this park.

Seems to me monies have been mishandled from the beginning. I just cannot believe that there are no reserves, or ideas flowing in to help keep these places open. I can think of one way to save money. Stop having those damn firework events in the parks! What good is it doing? Who does it help? How much money is being spent on these things?

These parks are homes to some of our most precious wildlife. It provides a great learning platform for our children and helps them to learn to respect nature.
I have racked my brain to come up with ideas to help save these parks from shutting down and simply going left unattended but where would I go if I could come up with something? Who would even listen?

Any ideas out there??
