I photographed this Baby Great Horned Owl for about 45 days. Denise and myself were in Kapok Park early one morning and she spotted something white and really fuzzy. She called out to me to come and see if I could figure out what it was as the only thing we could see was a blob of white fur peaking over the tree trunk where the creature was sitting. After much colaboration and scratching of heads we finally could see it was a baby owl. He could not have been more than a couple of weeks old. We soon spotted the parents perched on nearby branches with one eye closed and one open starring in the direction of their young.

Every other day we came to the park to photograph his progress. I have quite the collection of shots from this young species as he develops into nearly adulthood and takes off to begin life on his own.

This is from the 2009 collection of images.
